Hi, I'm Paula, author-illustrator of children's books, proud mother of three. My stories are sometimes set in the natural world, sometimes in the fictional and silly. I strive to bring children comfort in connection, acknowledgement of their unique selves, a sense of the power of purpose, and the wonder of new perspectives.
Before moving to Nevada with a BA in graphic design, I grew up in a rural Montana town situated over mineral hot springs that smelled a lot like boiled eggs (you get used to it!). After leaving my hometown on the Confederated Salish and Kootenai reservation, I worked in advertising, then later as a substitute teacher, artist in residence at local schools, and a story time reader for one of my favorite bookstores. My work received a PBParty Honorable Mention, I'm a member of several kid lit organizations and I love working with my critique partners.
I hope you enjoy my website. You can follow me on Instagram (tap icon below) where you'll find posts mostly about nature, picture books, and Indigenous literature. Look for me on Bluesky too!
Thanks for visiting!
